Jake NickellThe co-founder of Threadless.com, an online community of artists and an e-commerce website for T-shirts. The company was named “America’s most innovative small company” by Inc. magazine. In 2007, Jake Nickell was estimated $50M net worth. Jack Nickell started Threadless with friend Jacob DeHart in 2000. They each put in $500 as the funding capital. The idea of Threadless is to let the artists put their designs online, allow users to vote, and the winners will a price and their designs will be put on a T-shirt to sell. By 2002, Jake Nickell had quit his full-time job, and dropped out of the art school. In 2004, the revenue of Threadless was around $1.5 million, and in 2006 it jumped to $6.5 million. What Suprised meThreadless collects designs from the artist community and puts them on t-shirts. Who would have thought to collect the designs from the community instead of creating ones themselves? It was a brilliant idea. Website: www.threadless.com |
