Matt Mullenweg
Matt Mullenweg is an online social media entrepreneur, web developer, and a musician. He is best known for
developing the free and open source web software, WordPress, which powers 15% of the
web. He has been named one of PC World’s Top 50 People on the Web, Inc.com’s
Top 30 under 30, and Business Week’s 25 Most Influential People on the Web.
On January 11, 1984, Matt Mullenweg was born in Houston, Texas. Matt Mullenweg attended the University of Houston, majored in Political Science, but he dropped out in 2004. In late 2005, he founded Automattic, which is the secret force behind WordPress.com, Akismet, Gravatar, VaultPress, IntenseDebate, Polldaddy, and many more. In July 2011, Wordpress powered 50 million blogs globally. In May 2012, Wordpress powered 70 million sites and was expected to bring in $45 million in revenue this year. What surprised me:
Matt Mullenweg dropped out ofcollege in 2004 and his major was Political Science at that time, not Computer Science.
